ACTIVIDADES DOCENTES
The classes are both theoretical and practical. The method consists in a detailed reading of the dialogue followed by relevant questions at every step, imitating the Socratic induction in order to achieve the development of critical and creative thinking, in accordance to the objectives set by the Project for Teaching Innovation and Quality Improvement UCM 2016 (entitled 'The Socratic Method III').
In each class a question is raised by the teacher and the students have to build an explanatory hypothesis for the next class, which is to be shared in a forum reflection. Alternatives are analyzed in relation to the evidence of the texts and students are encouraged to exercise their own critical judgment to conduct a reasoned rebuttal of weaker proposals and a defense of the strengths of the responses, in a spirit of cooperation and enthusiasm.

It is essential to present the teacher with a B 2 Certificate in English, a Cambridge First Certificate or analogous certificate of Advanced level. No translations to Spanish will be given or accepted in the oral expression.
The main objective of the course is to achieve a reflective and critical understanding of the meaning of each of the passages of dialogue in depth, in order to get a complete interpretation of the dialogue as a whole. The issues raised by the characters will be analyzed in order to understand the encrypted messages, irony and innuendo in order to ensure that the students are able to distinguish the different argumentative threads and dismiss dead ends. The direct and thorough reading of the text allows us to understand how what is said and what happens in the action are two correlated modes of expressing the same message.
