CE 12- El alumno adquirirá conocimientos generales de los distintos campos de la lingüística inglesa aplicada y capacidad para desenvolverse con cierta soltura dentro de dichos campos.

This course offers an overview of the different areas that Applied Linguistics covers and the research interests it addresses through several case studies. The syllabus will be divided into three main parts that range from a more micro-and individual approach (language acquisition and development in the L2), to a more educational meso-approach (language(s) in education) and gradually towards a macro-perspective (language(s) in society), where the uses of language go beyond the immediate social setting and reach the wider multilingual and digital community.
Este curso ofrece una visión general de las diferentes áreas que abarca la Lingüística Aplicada y de los intereses de investigación que aborda a través de varios estudios de casos. El temario se dividirá en tres partes principales que van desde un enfoque más micro e individual (adquisición y desarrollo de la lengua en la L2), a un meso enfoque más educativo (lengua(s) en la educación) y gradualmente hacia una macro perspectiva (lengua(s) en la sociedad), donde los usos de la lengua van más allá del entorno social inmediato y alcanzan a la comunidad multilingüe y digital más amplia.
Objetivos
- Introduce students to the principles of Applied Linguistics both from a theoretical and a practical perspective
- Apply these principles to concrete case studies, focusing on the specificities of the settings.
- Initiate students in Applied Linguistics research by exposing them to different methodologies and sub-fields of interest.
- Develop a critical stance in students and work on their independent thinking processes to become independent scholars in the near future
Contenido
In this course, several subfields of Applied Linguistics will be studied and their research application, More specifically, areas related to language development, language in education and language in society will be covered.
En este curso se estudiarán varios subcampos de la Lingüística Aplicada y su aplicación a la investigación. Más concretamente, se cubrirán áreas relacionadas con el desarrollo del lenguaje, el lenguaje en la educación y el lenguaje en la sociedad.
